President  reviewed a presentation on measures to expand waste processing

Modern approaches are being implemented in this area, which is of great importance for the improvement of the country and the protection of public health. Over the past three years, more than 2 trillion soums have been allocated from all sources. Last year, the Waste Management Agency and the Circular Economy Development Agency were established.

1,200 units of new equipment were purchased for waste management enterprises. Waste collection areas have been built in the mahallas. Thanks to the improvement of the collection and transportation system, the sector has become a source of secondary raw materials.

The previously state-monopolized sector was opened to entrepreneurship, and a favorable business climate was created. In particular, the rate of profit tax and social tax for sanitation and processing enterprises is set at 1 percent. Equipment and machinery imported from abroad are exempt from customs duties. As a result, about 200 sanitary cleaning and 290 processing enterprises were created.

During the presentation, the responsible officials provided information on the implementation of the projects and plans for the future.

Every year, 14 million tons of household waste is generated in our country, but the level of its processing remains low. Thanks to projects in recent years, this indicator has reached 5 percent.

Projects to generate energy by burning waste are being supported. Chinese investors are building such plants in six regions. The state is undertaking the obligation not only to pay for waste disposal, but also to purchase the generated energy.
