Electricity is now produced by burning solid waste.

Presidential decrees (No. PQ-116, No. PQ-117, No. PQ-118 dated 24.03.2025) were adopted on measures to implement investment projects for electricity generation by burning solid household waste in Tashkent city, Andijan, Namangan, Fergana, Tashkent, Kashkadarya and Samarkand regions.

According to the decision, electricity will be produced in these areas by improving the environmental situation, introducing modern solutions and technologies in the field of waste processing, and direct investments will be attracted to the sector.

In accordance with the agreements on the purchase of electric energy and the supply of solid household waste, the project companies will sell the produced electric energy to "Uzenergosotish" JSC for 30 years in a guaranteed manner.

The Investor and Project companies will ensure the commissioning of equipment with the following production capacity in 2025-2027, including:

• 390 million kilowatts of electricity by thermal processing of 2.5 thousand tons of waste per day in Tashkent region;
• Thermal processing of 1.5 thousand tons of waste per day in Andijan region, 240 million kW of electricity;
• Thermal processing of 1.5 thousand tons of waste per day in Kashkadarya region, 240 million kW of electricity;
• thermal processing of 1.5 thousand tons of waste in Samarkand region, 240 million kW of electricity;
• 227.5 million kilowatts of electricity by thermal processing of 1.5 thousand tons of waste in Namangan region;
• 227.5 million kilowatts of electricity by thermal processing of 1.5 thousand tons of waste per day in Fergana region.
