New requirements for waste disposal will be introduced in Uzbekistan

By November 1, 2025, the state plans to develop new waste disposal requirements for manufacturers and importers of plastic products.

It is expected that the new disposal system will come into effect in 2026. Within the framework of the system, responsibility for waste collection and recycling is assigned to manufacturers and importers of plastic products or to enterprises that specialize in recycling. A system of gradually imposing expanded obligations on these entities will also be introduced.

Additionally, large retail outlets will have vending machines for plastic containers.

This solution will not only increase the amount of recycled waste, but also reduce the volume of waste in landfills. And, of course, reduce the level of greenhouse gas emissions.
